From the platform of Shraddha to Prema

When asakti or deep attachment for Sri Shyamsundar intensifies greatly, it is called Bhava, which further progresses into Prem, unalloyed unprecedented, unrestrained, fathomless pure love which eternally flows in an uninterrupted stream like that of honey towards the object of love, Sri Sri Radha Shyamsundar. Reaching this platform, the sadhaka finds a moment's separation from the Lord like 12 years and the entire universe to be null and void in the absence of Govinda. This has been expressed by Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu in Sri Shikshashtakam, yugayitam nimeshena chakshusha pravrishayitam shunyayitam jagat sarvam govinda-virahena me O Govinda! Feeling Your separation, I am considering a moment to be like twelve years or more. Tears are flowing from my eyes like torrents of rain, and I am feeling all vacant in the world in Your absence. In this exalted stage, the sadhaka serves the Lord both internally and externally, as directed by Srila Rupa Goswami, ...

The destruction of Pūtanā

One day the demoness Pūtanā descended from outer space into Gokula, the home of Nanda Maharaja. Having been sent by the cruel King Kamsa to kill all the babies in the Vrndavana area, Pūtanā displayed her mystic power and assumed the disguise of a very beautiful woman. She boldly entered Kṛṣṇa's bedroom without permission, but everyone was so overwhelmed by her beauty that they did not protest. The baby Kṛṣṇa, who resembled a fire covered by ashes, looked upon Pūtanā and thought that He would have to kill her. Pūtanā could understand the great potency of Kṛṣṇa, but, enchanted by the influence of Kṛṣṇa's internal energy, she took Kṛṣṇa upon her lap anyway and offered Him her poison smeared breast to suck. Suddenly baby Kṛṣṇa became very angry at Pūtanā, and taking hold of her breast, He squeezed it very hard with both hands and began to suck out both poison and her life. In unbearable agony, Pūtanā perspired heavily, flailed her arms and legs wildly, and cried out, ...

Nature reponds to your actions

During this time of corona outbreak and its subsequent consequences there are lots of questions. The question is within this overwhelming whirlwind of doubts, challenges and accusations, what is God doing? Why has He sent this Corona? Is He really compassionate? Or is nature more powerful than God? The Vedic scriptures give us some hints on how to understand God's involvement in such natural disasters. Let us see below how scriptures answer these questions. Srimad Bhagavatam 2.10.45 states "There is no direct engineering by the Lord for the creation and destruction of the material world. What is described in the Vedas about His direct interference is simply to counteract the idea that material nature is the creator." nāsya karmaṇi janmādau parasyānuvidhīyate kartṛtva-pratiṣedhārthaṁ māyayāropitaṁ hi tat In other words, the Supreme is not directly involved in the workings of the Material Nature (prakriti)  As Vedas explain, material nature (prakriti) is ope...
